(MENAFN- Jordan News Agency) Prime Minister Abdullah Ensour, on Tuesday, instructed the Department of Lands and Survey (DLS) to prepare a detailed presentation on the subject of lands claimed by Jordanian tribes.
During a visit to the DLS, the prime minister said that the presentation must include all tribal lands in the Kingdom to enable the government to arrive at a lawful, correct, fair and consensual decision on this "important issue".
At the meeting, which was attended by the Minister of Finance, Umayya Toukan, DLS director general Moeen Sayegh and senior department staff, Ensour emphasized the great importance of the National Archives and documents at the DLS, including those for 1948 and 1967 Palestinian lands documents. He stressed the need to "archive these documents and maintain them at a safe place to prevent damage or tampering".
Sayegh briefed the Prime Minister on challenges that the department faces in its work, including the lack of young talent in land survey, especially in remote areas.
In that regard, the premier referred to the possibility of DLS qualifying a group of young people in remote areas to work in the field of survey, or grant scholarships to students to study at community colleges or universities in that field in order to work at the department later.
