Jordan officially submits Palestinian amended resolution to UN

(MENAFN- Jordan News Agency)  Jordan has officially presented the final Arab draft resolution on the Palestinian issue to the UN Security Council after being amended by the Palestinians.

Arab representatives at the UN held a meeting yesterday, during which they endorsed the Palestinian proposal to refer the amended draft resolution to the Arab League Council in order to move ahead with the project, in the light of the UN new structural developments at the beginning of the new year.

Jordanian U.N. Ambassador Dina Kawar, the sole Arab representative on the council, told reporters that the Arab delegations had endorsed the Palestinian proposal, and that the Jordanians and Palestinians would consult about when to call a vote.

"Palestinians are more aware of their status and their interests and Jordan respects their will strongly," Kawar said.

An earlier Palestinian draft called for Jerusalem to be the shared capital of Israel and a Palestinian state.

The final proposal amendments made by the Palestinian delegation focused on issues relating to Jerusalem, releasing Palestinian prisoners, water, ending Israeli settlement building and the illegal segragation wall.
