Qatar 2015 honours volunteers of Asian Clubs championship

(MENAFN- The Peninsula) The Qatar 2015 Organising Committee has felicitated 260 volunteers for their efforts during the 17th Asian Clubs League Championship at a special ceremony held at the Qatar 2015 Volunteers Centre, located at the Qatar Sports Club in Doha.

Volunteers offered their services across several functional areas during the tournament that was held as a test event for the newly built Ali Bin Hamad Al Attiya Arena in Al Sadd.

"Certificates of Appreciation"were given to the volunteers by Mohamad Jabor Al Mulla, Assistant Director General of Qatar 2015 Organising Committee and Director General of the 17th Asian Club League Championship.

Congratulating the team, Mohamad Jabor Al Mulla said: "The 17th Asian Clubs League Championship brought together ten clubs from six countries and the Volunteer team played an important role as mediators and points of contact between participating teams, VIPs, spectators andthe media. We thank them for their enthusiasm and dedication. We hope to bring everyone together again for the 24th Men's Handball World Championship in January."

Over the past months,Qatar 2015 launched a series of community initiatives and open houses to encourage people to sign up for its Volunteer Programme. It has been steadily building a team of 1500 volunteers from diverse cultural and professional backgrounds to provide an enriching experience for all at the main championship.

The two test events have also given the team first-hand experience of the requirements of international sports events and a structured feedback process has helped to ensure that sufficient support will be provided during the championship next year.

With role specific training being provided for registered volunteers, the team has been prepared to be of assistance at the three stadia hosting the matches and other non-competition venues such as the accommodation, accreditation, airport services, protocol, spectator services, transport, uniforms, workforce, media and broadcasting that will be hosting members of the International Handball Federation (IHF), athletes and visitors.
