Qatar Ranks Second in International Holy Qur'an Competition


(MENAFN- QNA) The State of Qatar has come at second place in the 10th King Mohammed VI International Award for Recitation, Memorization and interpretation of the Holy Qur'an, which was held in Morocco.

The Qatari contester Youssuf Ahmed Youssuf Asheer, from the Holy Quran and its Sciences and Islamic Dawah and Guidance Department, has ranked second in the contest in whcih 50 contesters from 37 Arab and Muslim countries took part, said the ministry of Awqaf in a press statement.

Asheer expressed his pleasure over winning the second place in this Qur'anic competition, saying the highest ranks achieved by Qatari youth in international of the Holy Quran competitions reflect Qatar's interest in the Holy Quran and its memorization       He pointed to his early readiness for the competition, which has contributed to hsi achievement of this position despite the difficulty of the competition, which includes memorization, interpretation, rhetoric and idiosyncratic rule of Quranic verses.

      He also pointed to the importance of international competitions for recitation , memorization and interpretation of the Holy Qur'an and its role in the acquisition of knowledge and experience and in strengthening the bonds of brotherhood between contesters.
