UAE- Duo gets life term for drug trading

(MENAFN- Khaleej Times) The Anti-Narcotics Department of the Dubai Police was tipped off that one of the men was in possession of tramadol pills and was planning to sell them for Dh2800.

Dubai - Two Bangladeshi men were sentenced to life imprisonment and fined Dh50000 each on Monday for smuggling in possessing and trading in drugs.

The Dubai Criminal Court of First Instance also ordered the confiscation of the drugs and deportation of the pair — 40-year-old B.K.A and 25-year-old M.R.J — after serving their jail terms.

In March this year the Anti-Narcotics Department of the Dubai Police was tipped off that B.K.A was in possession of tramadol pills and was planning to sell them for Dh2800. A plainclothes policeman was tasked with buying the contraband and Al Nahda in Dubai was fixed as the venue for the deal.

Policemen were waiting but a few minutes before the appointed time the accused said he had not brought the requested quantity but only 39 pills which he wanted to sell for Dh1800. Police arrested him at that moment.

During interrogation he said he got the restricted drug pills from M.R.H who had been waiting for him to receive the cash. B.K.A who was in custody was made to call M.R.H who told him that the mission was accomplished and that he would be waiting for him at a café to hand him over the cash. M.R.H was arrested when he arrived at the cafe. On searching his car police recovered 10 narcotic pills.
