18 airstrikes target ISIL positions in Syria, Iraq
(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) The US-led coalition against ISIL launched a total of 18 airstrikes against the group's targets on Monday, according to a statement from the Combined Joint Task Force - Operation Inherent Resolve (CJTF-OIR).
In Syria, fighter, attack and drone aircraft carried out 10 airstrikes near Kobani, where "eleven ISIL fighting positions, two ISIL buildings, an ISIL storage container and ... an ISIL tactical unit" were destroyed, according to CJTF-OIR.
Near Deir Az Zawr and Ar Raqqah, two airstrikes "struck several ISIL buildings," the statement added.
In Iraq, fighter, attack, and drone aircraft hit targets near Al Asad, where "two airstrikes destroyed two ISIL vehicles and struck an ISIL tactical unit," near Sinjar, where another two airstrikes "destroyed an ISIL vehicle," and near Mosul, where the final two airstrikes "destroyed two ISIL buildings and struck a large ISIL unit," the statement affirmed.
