India's OPG Power Venture profits up 35 percent

(MENAFN) OPG Power Ventures, a power firm based in India, posted a first-half pre-tax profits increase of 35 percent to USD16.01 million, up from USD11.81 in the same period a year ago, The Telegraph reported.

The Indian company offers UK investors the opportunity to benefit from power shortages in the Asian country. The utility company is coming towards the end of a major coal-fired power plant construction project.

Analysts from Investec estimate that the increase in power production next year is slightly slower than expected, but they forecast pre-tax profits of USD48.97 million for the year ended March 2016.

The company is growing quickly through a vast power plant construction project. The final issue is currency risk around the Indian rupee, which has now stabilized after sharp falls last year.
