Global auto sales to surge 3.9 percent in 2015

(MENAFN) A report showed that global auto sales are expected to grow at a faster pace in 2015, with a strong demand in the US, China and India leading the growth, The Peninsula Qatar reported.

The Korean Automotive Research Institute (KARI) forecast that global car sales will reach 87.1 million vehicles next year, an increase of 3.9 percent over this year, in which auto sales grew 3.5 percent.

The US is likely to witness a growth of 2 percent in car sales, with a total of 16.833 million units to be sold, while car sales in China are also estimated to surge 8.6 percent to 20.78 million units.

"As oil prices are falling, consumers in the US might prefer sports utility vehicles to small and midsize cars," head of the research institute said at a seminar where the report was announced.
