GCAA updates stakeholders on latest aviation regulations and processes


(MENAFN- Emirates News Agency (WAM))  The UAE General Civil Aviation Authority € Airworthiness (AW) Department, held ACC meeting with stakeholders in Dubai on 11th of December 2014. The meeting was attended by approved organisation's Quality Assurance representatives. The aim of the ACC meeting was to provide the latest updates from the AW Department and seek industry feedback on the services, regulations, and processes.

The meeting was chaired by Aqeel Al Zarouni € Acting Director of Airworthiness who has been newly appointed. During his opening address, he stressed on the usefulness of the ACC platform for open dialogue between the GCAA and the industry, saying that such forums are even more important due to advancements in airworthiness requirements and methodologies, which necessitates sharing of ideas and experiences.

The ACC meeting provides an opportunity for AW Department to engage with the aviation industry in the UAE to listen to and address the issues related to airworthiness. It is a chance to gather feedback to improve the GCAA systems, to enhance the service user experience and to meet their expectations.

It is a forum for all AMO (Aircraft Maintenance Organisations), CAMO (Continued Airworthiness Management Organisations), DO (Design Organisations), and PO (Production Organisations) to get together at one place and exchange views with the regulator, and listen to the latest amendments in rules and regulations and processes.

Suggestions and proposals for improvements are noted and then all action items are executed and sent back to industry for their records and reference.

The AW Department plays major role in the Aviation Safety Affairs Sector of the GCAA, by approving all AMOs, CAMOs, DOs, and POs, involving in aircraft registered in UAE. AW Department register and certify the aircraft operated by Airlines Operators based in the UAE and hold AOC (Airline Operating Certificates), or POC (Private Operating Certificate) issued by the GCAA.

The AW Department is responsible, after approving these organisations and certifying aircraft, for the continued surveillance and oversight to ensure safety and continued airworthiness as required by rules published by the GCAA. The AW Department approves and issues amendments of all related manuals required by these organisations and aircraft.

Its team also carries out investigations and follows up on incidents and constantly communicates with all aircraft manufacturers and states of design, to find solutions for arising issues and threats to safety, and continued airworthiness of registered aircraft in the UAE.

The regulations related to AW are all available in the GCAA website, and majority of the services are automated for easiness of access, and for speed of service. The AW Department proposes amendments to these regulations and other industry publications and internal procedures. It also develops new procedures as required to cover all processes and services served to the industry.

The ACC meeting is also used as a forum to recognise outstanding contributions to the industry by presentation of a GCAA trophy, this time the trophy was awarded to Mohammad Al Sirhan € VP Technical Services at Emirates Airlines.
