Egypt, Kuwait mull mutual cooperation to combat terrorism


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) Visiting Kuwaiti Minister of Justice and Minister of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs Yaqoub Al-Sanea emphasized on Sunday that the cohesiveness among Arab and Islamic countries will contribute to fighting extremist ideologies.

During his meeting with Egyptian Minister of Islamic Endowments Mohammad Mokhtar Jomaa at the headquarters of the ministry in Cairo, Minister Al-Sanea said that extremist ideology came to the region from abroad and supported by "unknown" bodies.

Minister Al-Sanea noted that there is a major cooperation between Kuwait and Egypt in all domains, notably endowments and charity work.

Minister Al-Sanea hailed the status of Minister Jomaa in both Egypt and Kuwait.

For his part, Jomaa underlined the significance of forming a solid intellectual Arab Islamic Front to combat terrorism, referring that cultural salon of Endowments in Egypt started renewing of Islamic thought.

Jomaa underlined the significant of such meetings aiming at exchanging expertise, saying that the exchange of cultural and scientific visits in the field of Islamic Dawa should be made through the governmental institutions and ministries.

He also stressed that Arab countries could face challenges and difficulties, saying that "no one in the world can impose its influence on the Arab region." Earlier in the day, Minister Al-Sanea met the Grand Imam of Al-Azhar Sheikh Ahmad Al-Tayyeb and discussed a number of topics of common interest.
