Qatar charity sends aid to Syrian refugees in Jordan

(MENAFN- Jordan News Agency)  An eight-truck aid convoy, donated by a Qatari charity, is on its way to the Zaatari camp in Jordan, laden with food supplies for Syrian refugees. The head of the Organization of Islamic Call, Sheikh Hammad Abdel Qader Al Sheikh, said the convoy is part of the special campaign the charity had launched after the Syrian crisis began, to provide relief aid to displaced Syrians.

He said the ongoing plight of refugees is becoming aggravated, particularly in view of the harsh winter, and it "warrants collective efforts to meet some of their essential needs, such as food, medicine, clothes, blankets and stoves." Al Sheikh said his organisation, with donations from Qatari benefactors and in cooperation with countries neighbouring Syria, had carried out charitable and humanitarian work for Syrian people.

The charity's activities, he explained, involved provisions for housing and accommodation, building medical centers and homes for the wounded and the orphans in addition to other in-kind assistance, such as food, medicine, sanitation, clean water as well as food offered during the holy month of Ramadan.
