Vietnam's fruit, vegetable exports to hit USD1.5b in 2014


(MENAFN) According to the Vietnamese Fruit and Vegetables Association, the country is forecasted to earn USD1.5 billion from fruit and vegetable exports this year, Xinhua reported.

The figures showed that the country spent around USD521 million on the import, posting a trade surplus of USD956 million for the sector in 2014, the association said on its website.

In the current month, fruit and vegetables exports were projected to hit USD120 million, of these products this year to USD1.477 billion, a sharp increase over last year's figure of USD1.073 billion.

Meanwhile, the value of fruit and vegetable imports reached USD42 million in December, bringing the total import turnover of fruit and vegetables to USD521 million this year, a 28.5 percent increase on-year.
