Saudi- BIP indicts 2161 in 1850 criminal cases


(MENAFN- Arab News) Some 2161 government employees and expatriates were indicted by the Bureau of Investigation and Prosecution (BIP) for their involvement in 1850 criminal cases Al-Madinah daily reported quoting data released by BIP.

According to the BIP report the arraignments included 896 forgery 365 bribery 110 fake currency and 48 embezzlement cases.

The BIP cleared some 1682 cases by the end of last year from the overall cases it received which involved 1659 Saudis and 502 foreigners the report said.

Some 1135 persons (835 Saudis and 300 foreigners or 26 percent of the total) were charged with cases of forgery 505 for bribery (396 Saudis and 110 foreigners or 22 percent) 53 for embezzlement (52 Saudis and one foreigner) 125 for fake currencies (48 Saudis and 77 foreigners or 62 percent) the report said.

Another 660 cases were prosecuted for disciplinary issues and categorized as follows: Administrative issues where 622 Saudis and 8 foreigners were involved; financial (48 Saudis and one foreigner); misbehavior (34 Saudis and one foreigner) according to the report.
