Iran's urban inflation down 1 percent to 17.2 percent

(MENAFN) According to the Central Bank of Iran, the inflation rate in the country's urban areas dropped 1 percent to 17.2 percent in the year ended December 21, Tehran Times reported.

The Producer Price Index (PPI) increased 1.9 percent in the twelve-month period to December 21 compared to the same period a year earlier, the central bank data showed.

Iran Custom Administration has prepared a comprehensive plan to face high inflation and bring the national economy out of recession, the country's Finance and Economic Affairs Minister said.

PPI measures the average change in selling prices received by domestic producers of goods and services over time, looking at three areas of production: industry-based, commodity-based and stage-of-processing-based firms.
