Bahrain's Gulf Air to boost Saudi service


(MENAFN) Bahrain's Gulf Air announced it is planning to boost its network in Saudi Arabia, with plans to start operating flights to Gassim and Taif beginning from January 10, thus bringing the total number of Saudi Arabian cities serviced by the airline to 6, Arabian Business reported.

The carrier said that these new services will join its already established routes to Dammam, Jeddah, Riyadh and Madinah, adding that these new flights demonstrates their commitment to connecting people to various destinations across Gulf Air's network

"Bahrain's relationship with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is a longstanding one and our national carrier's ties to our neighbor date back to our maiden service to Dhahran in 1950...I thank Saudi authorities for facilitating and supporting the new routes," Gulf Air acting CEO said.

The carrier also added that it has been able to reduce its losses by 30 percent during the January-June period of this compared to its losses during the same period last year, as well as registering an increase by 10 percent in its revenue.
