S. Korea's industrial electricity sales down in November

(MENAFN) The South Korean government said that electricity consumption in the country's industrial sector edged down in November from a year ago on a drop in exports, QNA reported.

Electricity used by the industrial sector totaled 22.33 billion kilowatt-hours last month, dipping 0.1 percent from November 2013, the South Korean Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy said.

The drop was mainly attributed to fewer working days this year from a year ago, which also led to a 1.9 percent decline in the country's overall exports, South Korea's Yonhap News reported.

"Despite a fall in industrial electricity sales, the overall electricity sales rose 0.5 percent as the amount used by households and commercial buildings rose 1.2 percent and 1.3 percent on-year," the ministry said.
