Vietnam's GDP to grow 5.98 percent in 2014


(MENAFN) According to Vietnam's General Statistics Office, the country is projected to post an economic growth rate of 5.98 percent by year-end, Xinhua reported.

The country's GDP increased by 5.06 percent in the first quarter, 5.34 percent in the second quarter and 6.07 percent in the third quarter, while growth is estimated at 6.96 percent in the fourth quarter.

"This year's GDP growth rate is higher than the rate of 5.42 percent in 2013 and 5.25 percent in 2012, showing positive signals of the economy," the statistics agency said.

Vietnam's Consumer Price Index (CPI), the main gauge of inflation, is forecasted to post an increase of 4.09 percent in 2014 on-year, lower than the previous target of 5 percent.
