Qatar take on Estonia today


(MENAFN- Gulf Times) Asian Cup-bound Qatar squad on Wednesday hit the training pitch at Lekhwiya Stadium ahead of their Estonia friendly today.

Under the watchful gaze of coach Djamel Belmadi, Qatar squad of 23 players completed a through training session, Qatar Football Association (QFA) said on Wednesday.

Qatar are one of 16 teams that will feature at next month's Asian Cup to be held from January 9 to 31.

After playing the friendly today, Qatar will head to Australia via a chartered flight and land in Canberra tomorrow, QFA confirmed. Qatar will play two more friendlies € against Oman on December 31 and then against New Zealand on January 5.

Qatar have Iran, the UAE and Bahrain in Group C of the tournament.

QFA management has already left for Australia to look into matters dealing with the national squad's training and match schedules.

Estonia arrived in Doha on Thursday and trained yesterday.
