(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) Kuwait's Minister of Justice and Minister of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs Yaqoub Al-San'e said Saturday that consolidated efforts among Arab states are a must for combating extremism and terrorism in the region.

The Arab region faces massive challenges, Al-San'e stated to KUNA following his meeting with Egyptian Public Prosecutor Hesham Barakat.

He highlighted the importance of coordination between Kuwait and Egypt in countering these challenges.

He commended as significant the legacy of Egypt's legal system, noting that his meeting with Barakat aimed to review the signed agreements and protocols between the two countries, and find ways to implement them within a correct framework.

The meeting also addressed ways to increase cooperation and expertise exchange between judicial institutions in both countries, the Kuwaiti Minister said, affirming depth of historic Kuwaiti-Egyptian ties in various fields.

Al-Sanea also pointed out that the majority of the non-Kuwaiti judicial body members are from Egypt, calling for setting up a mechanism to develop joint legislations between the two countries.

Meanwhile, Barakat commended, in a statement to KUNA, the significant cooperation between judicial institutions in both countries, mentioning the meeting has also addressed ways to benefit from judicial abilities and qualities between his country and Kuwait to face terrorist crimes, organized crimes, and money laundering.

The Egyptian Public Prosecutor also stressed importance of signed cooperation agreements and protocols between the two countries, particularly between Egyptian and Kuwaiti public prosecution regarding judicial assistance and substitution.
