Libya seeks foreign help to put out oil tank fire

(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) The Libyan authorities on Saturday asked Germany, Italy and the United States to offer help in fighting the fires blazing at five oil storage tanks at Al-Sidra terminal.

Minister of Interior in the interim government Omar Al-Sanki sent urgent letters to the three countries, via their diplomatic representatives, to intervene given the inability of the Libyan firefighting service to control the huge fires, according to a statement by his ministry.

Two more tanks at Al-Sidra, the country's major oil port in the Oil Crescent region, north Libya, caught fire earlier today, the statement noted, blaming the fire on missile attacks by Fajr Libya (Dawn of Libya) militia on Thursday.
