Chadian Pres. lauds Algeria role in regional security


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) Chadian President Idriss Deby Into on Saturday hailed as effective the role of Algeria in maintaining security in the Sahel region.

Addressing the opening session of the Chadian-Algerian economic Forum here, President Into called for the strengthening the economic cooperation between Algeria and Chad to serve the mutual benefits of both nations and the entire African continent.

"Economic cooperation between Chad and Algeria is historic. We must further strengthen to move on the path of development that will ensure the interests of the two peoples which are united by old ties of friendship and brotherhood," Algeria's APS news agency quoted him as saying.

The Chadian president lauded Algeria's great history and its role in settling various African struggles.

He also appreciated "the great interest" of Algerian businesspeople and investors in the development of cooperation and win-win partnership between the two countries in various sectors.

"Algeria, thanks to its economic growth, continues to play an important role in the development of the African continent," he said, emphasizing the need to create the conditions for this development.

In addition, Itno thanked President Abdelaziz Bouteflika for the invitation to pay a three-day official visit to "sisterly Algeria."
