(MENAFN- Daily News Egypt) A five-year-old child died from the bird flu in an Aswan hospital on Wednesday, according to Ministry of Health spokesman Hossam Abdel Ghafar.
The child was admitted into an Aswan hospital on 21 December before he died on the 24th.
The child's death marks the 10th case of mortality due to the H5N1 bird flu over the past year in Egypt, the spokesman added.
A total of 22 Egyptians have been diagnosed with the virus last year, some of which are still seeking treatment in hospitals.
According to Abdel Ghafar, this "number is still not high compared to other countries".
