Al Meera to open 9 new malls across Qatar soon


(MENAFN- The Peninsula) As part of efforts to serve better, Al Meera Consumer Goods Company yesterday announced to open nine new malls across the country by the beginning of 2015, said a senior official of the company.

"To achieve a wider spread and serve better our customers, we will be opening nine stores by the beginning of 2015. They will be located in Al Wakra, Al Thumama, Al Wajba, Muaither, Al Azizia, Zakhira, Murraikh and Jeryan Nejaima and a branch at a rented property in the Gulf Mall," Dr Mohammed Nasser Al Qahtani, Deputy CEO, Al Meera, told this daily yesterday.

Al Qahtani said the company is also in the process of opening 15 shopping centres of various sizes over the next one year across Qatar. The new centres are in different stages of development.

He said Al Meera is working with full potential to get the construction phase of 15 malls to be accomplished by 2015.

The malls will be opening, based to four innovative designs, in Sailiya North, Rawdat Ekdeem, Umm Salal, Leabaib 1, Leabaib 2, Bu Sidra, Al Wakra 2, Rawdat Aba El Herran, Azghawa, Al Khor, Um Qarn, Rawdat Al Hamama, Jeryan Junaihat, Al Sailiya, and Ain Khaled.

The initiatives are part of the company's ongoing quest to keep up with the pace of development and growth in Qatar, guided by Qatar National Vision 2030.

Al Meera's commitment to the vision is reflected by its expansion and development plans carried out since the beginning of its establishment to make shopping easier and more convenient and fun for consumers in and outside Doha through the provision of a wide range of products that meet their daily needs.

Al Qahtani said all new malls will be built to stringent international standards based on latest interior design style and equipped with modern lighting system. The contemporary concept will cover all Al Meera's supermarkets, shops, restaurants and other stores. The progress of Al Meera will benefit all in Qatar, shareholders and consumers, especially that Qatar was and will remain the major market for its retail company.

The company's expansion plan is part of efforts to make everyone close to Al Meera stores everywhere in Qatar.

Al Meera will continue to rehabilitate its old branches and fully switch over to the new innovative concept. The modern and contemporary concept is designed by international companies and aims to meet the Qatari market requirements.

To value and serve better its customers, the company has also signed a partnership with Ooredoo's Nojoom, the multiple-award winning loyalty programme, at Al Meera's headquarters to provide new awards to customers. It was signed by Al Qahtani, and Yousuf Abdulla Al Kubaisi, CEO, Global Services, Ooredoo, in presence of department directors and staff from both companies.

The partnership will allow Al Meera customers to earn and redeem points with the Nojoom programme when shopping at Al Meera branches in Mansoura, Bin Omran, Khalifa South, Hazm Al Markhiya, Azghawa, Al Merqab, Wakra, Airport hypermarket, Legtaifiya and Nuaija.

Nojoom Red and Silver members will earn one point and Nojoom Gold members two for spending QR6.
