(MENAFN- The Peninsula) The Environment Protection Department at the Ministry of Environment has discovered a winter camp in Al Shamal which was established without permission, Arraya has reported, along with pictures of the camp.
The department, in collaboration with concerned authorities, has started dismantling the camp while its owner has been referred to security authorities and public prosecution.
The department has also been conducting a campaign to clean up and rehabilitate open areas, during which inspectors have caught many people violating the environment protection law.
They also caught many people felling in trees Al Rafaa in violation of the law on greeneries.
Inspectors seized trucks transporting diesel without licence on Al Shamal Road and trucks dumping sewage in Al Khisa near Lekhwiya Stadium which is not designated for the purpose.
During its campaign, the ministry removed huge quantities of construction waste to designated areas in Mesaieed and Rawdat Rashid.
The campaign aims to clean up open areas and protect greeneries from pollution and destruction.
The ministry has published brochures to create awareness about the environment with tips for protecting it.
