China the hometown of Silk Road witnessed the development and flourishing of the Silk Road.

Silk Road namely the road for the silk transport is the interaction hub both for the culture and the commerce for the western countries and China.

And the road started from Chang’an(today’s Xi’an) and the pass through the Hexi Corridor and Dunhuang the world famous Dunhuang Grottos location. By the joint of the India Pakista and Rome the Silk Road just traversed the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region.

When mentioning the Silk Road we should date back to Han Dynasty. In Han Dynasty the Emperor Liu Che one of the famous and prolific emperors in ancient China came into power and then made the country prosperous and peaceful. However the Huns lived in the western borders of China attempted to invade China in order to enlarge their land.

To protect the inner China the emperor took the measure to unite the Da Yue Zhi one of the independent tribes in western part of China to defend the invaders. And Zhang Qian one of the famous China diplomas was assumed to go to the western counties to interact with the leaders of Da Yue Zhi. He was intended to persuade the the Da Yue Zhi to defend the invaders of the Huns.

Unfortunately he was arrested and stayed there for several years. And whenhe came back to the Han Dynasty; he explored the road and made the maps of the western area which was greatly beneficial to the later diploma and wars.

This was the first time for Zhang Qian to develop this road. And then a few years later Zhang Qian was secondly dispatched to the western countries. And this time he went to the western countries again. And then he also took some silk to the western countries for the exchange of the western goods and western culture.

This time the Silk Road began to be the international joint bridge for China tours and culture among western countries such as Persia India Arabia Greek and Rome. Not only the silk but also the Chinese artworks culture religion and customs were also transmitted to the western countries.

In return we also learnt the advanced technologies and got some plants seeds from western countries such as potatoes corn and grapes. These were also recorded in the mirrors at that times for example there were exhibited some bronze mirrors in Shannxi History Museum which reflected to the interaction between China and the western countries for the decorative pattern on the back of the royal emperors and empress.

And the Silk Road really is beneficial to the interaction and mutual learning both for China and some western countries.

The Silk Road firstly was attributed to the trade between these countries. The delicate silk porcelain and china were popular among the western countries. And they were eager to learn the handcrafts of the artworks hence the Chinese culture were also transmitted to there. What’s more the lapis in Afghanistan and the nuts fruits cucumber carrots and the other vegetables were also bought to China.

And the Silk Road also had great influence on the culture interaction. And the paper was found in Loulan State which disappeared today. And then the paper-making skills were also transmitted to the western country. Apart from these the Silk Road is also made the great contribution for the religious interaction such as Buddhism and the famous branch of the Buddhism is Daqin School. And the most popular religion in western countries and the record of the development is in Xi’an Forest of Stone Steles Museum.
