World's major events '14


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA))  The year 2014 witnessed a host of events at different levels that have constituted major challenges to people around the globe.

The international community has been, during the year, stepping up its fight against terrorism with emergence of terrorist groups in different parts of the globe.

Violence across the globe:

Jan 1: At least six people were injured in armed clashes occurred in Thailand's capital, Bangkok, between the supporters and opponents of the government.
Jan 2: At least 10 people were injured in blast explosions targeted a resort in Kenya's Mombasa.
Jan 3: Roughly 75 people were killed in clashes between Muslims and Christians in the Central African Republic's city of Boda.
Jan 14: At least 17 people were killed in a bomb explosion in at overcrowded market in Maiduguri, north of Nigeria.
Jan 18: Roughly 21 people, including a prominent figure in the International Monetary Fund, were killed in an armed attack on a restaurant in Afghanistan's Kabul.
Jan 19: The International Committee of the Red Cross announced the killing of at least 50 people in a tribal violence that hit Central African Republic.
Jan 21: The Thai government imposed a 60-day state of emergency in the capital, Bangkok, and the surrounding provinces, due to continuing strikes and clashes between the supporters and opponents of the government.
Jan 22: At least 10 people were killed by armed militants in the Central African Republic's capital, Bangui.
Jan 23: About 30 Rohingya's Muslims were killed by armed Bosnians in Burma's Rakhine State. Feb 11: The Serbia court convicted nine Serbian militants for killing more than 100 Albanian civilians in the Kosovo War by the end of 1999.
Feb 13: More than 40 were killed in an armed attack on the town of Kondogha in northeastern Borno State, Nigeria. Feb 14: At least eight people were killed in an attack targeted a police station in Xinjiang Province in eastern China.
