GCC cross country race to begin in Kuwait Saturday


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA))  Over 90 athletes from the six GCC states will partake in the Gulf cross country race scheduled for tomorrow, said a statement by the race organizing committee Friday.

The one-day race will be organized by the Kuwait track and field federation and will see the participation of Junior, youth, and senior athletes from Kuwait, Oman, Saudi Arabia, UAE, Qatar, and Bahrain, said the committee.

The committee went on saying that each age group participating in the race will have a designated distance to run, noting that the juniors will run for sixth kilometers, followed by the youth for eight kilometers, while the open race for seniors will be held at 3:00 p.m. local time will cover the distance of 12 kilometers.

Cross country racing is an individual and team sport that involves athletes running in air-open courses over natural terrain
