Qatari Nebras eyes USD14b project in Turkey


(MENAFN) Qatar's Nebras Power Company said that it is currently negotiating with the Turkish government regarding the execution of a mining and power project, which is estimated to cost USD14 billion, Emirates 24/7 reported.

The company said that it is having these negotiations for the project and will include the construction of coal-run power plants with a combined generation capacity of 4,500 MW, which will be located southeast of the Turkish capital Ankara, as a part of an international alliance, which include global developers with experience in mining to carry out the studies for the project

"These projects, with a cost of more than USD14 billion, will be executed in three phases"it is one of the largest projects of its kinds in the region and will be carried out on a long-term basis as it will take tens of years," Nebras's CEO was quoted saying.

Nebras, which is jointly owned by Qatar Electricity & Water Company, Qatar Petroleum International and Qatar Holding, also said that is bidding for a coal-run power project in Dubai and is planning to bid for a 850MW wind power station in Morocco.
