Time to crush terrorists: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif


(MENAFN- Khaleej Times) Nawaz Sharif says second round of operation Zarb-e-Azb to target terrorists hiding in cities villages.

Islamabad: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif vowed on Tuesday to wage an all-out war against militancy without any discrimination or exception. He was presiding over a high-level security meeting here.

The premier said “Every aspect is under consideration; terror and its root causes both will be addressed.”



“We cannot forget and forgive the atrocities committed by these barbarians in Peshawar Quetta and Wagah” he added.



The premier also said that every citizen irrespective of their religion sect and caste will be protected



“No cause is more sacred than protecting the life and property of every citizen of Pakistan” he stressed.



According to a PM Office statement Sharif cancelled all his scheduled engagements on Tuesday to consult members of his cabinet’s legal team and military leadership in this regard.



The prime minister has also convened a meeting of top political leadership of the country on Wednesday to finalise national action plan for eliminating terrorism. A parliamentary panel earlier set up for this purpose completed its task on Tuesday.



Sharif said that the nation could not be left at the mercy of terrorists. He stressed that extraordinary times called for extraordinary measures.



He added that elements involved in terrorist activities would not be spared and measures recommended by intelligence agencies should be implemented.



He said that the second round of operation ‘Zarb-e-Azb’ would target terrorists hiding in cities and villages as part of renewed strategy on security for the elimination of terrorism and maintenance of law and order in the country.



“The government will not differentiate between terrorists and their facilitators” the prime minister said.



He directed immediate drafting of an anti-terrorism bill which he said should be circulated and debated through provincial and national conferences political parties civil society and legal fraternity.



The premier also agreed in principle to constitute a parliamentary committee for developing consensus on this legislation. The problems being faced by the law enforcement agencies are due to absence of a potent and meaningful system and the problems caused due to low rate of conviction.
