UAE- Sinking restaurant in Ras Al Khaimah to be shut

(MENAFN- Khaleej Times) The owner of the boat has been given a grace period of one month to either do repair work on the leaning restaurant or dismantle it.

ras al khaimah — The Ras Al Khaimah (RAK) Municipality has ordered closure of a floating restaurant in RAK Creek for being prone to sinking at any time.

According to an official source at the municipal body the owner of the boat has been given a grace period of one month to either do repair work on the leaning restaurant or dismantle it or tow it to a safer place.

“The boat restaurant has started leaning to one side since September this year and hence poses a risk to customers and the environment as well.”

The RAK Municipality has warned the owner of the boat anchoring opposite the Ministry of Culture Youth and Community Development and has instructed him to dismantle the boat or tow it to a safer place.

“He may also fix it and re-operate it after matching the set specifications and conditions to ensure customers’ safety and security.”

If the boat sinks it will be an environmental disaster because of the oils and diesel in and therefore the owner must take a swift action the source said.

However the RAK Public Works and Services Department stated that it cannot shift the boat restaurant unless officially notified.

“We need to have an official letter that identifies the new location of the floating restaurant” said Ahmad Al Hammadi Director of the RAK Public Works and Services department. -ahmedshaabankhaleejtimes.com
