Jordan, Netherlands discuss regional, int'l developments


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) Jordan's King Abdullah II and visiting Dutch Foreign Minister Bert Koenders discussed here on Tuesday the latest developments of regional and international situations as well as the ways of promoting cooperation ties between the two countries.

King Abdullah II and Koenders, who is on a tour of the Middle East, focused on the developments related to issues and challenges on both regional and international arenas, primarily ongoing efforts to fight terrorism, said a statement by the Royal Diwan.

Combating terrorism, which threatens security of all, requires constant cooperation and coordination among all parties, it noted.

King Abdullah II underlined in the meeting the significance of ending Israeli occupation in accordance with the two-state solution, it said.

Concerning the Syrian crisis and its repercussions on the neighboring countries, King Abdullah II pointed to pressures Jordan is facing due to hosting a large number of Syrian refugees despite the Kingdom's meagre resources.

He called for international support to help Jordan continue to support the displaced Syrians.

For his part, Koenders commended Jordan's enormous efforts in dealing with the various challenges facing the region and its endeavors to bolster regional security and stability.

He stressed his country's keenness on strengthening ties with Jordan in different domains.
