S. Korea's labor productivity grows in Q3

(MENAFN) South Korea's labor productivity grew from a year earlier in the third quarter on gains in the service and manufacturing sectors, the government said, QNA reported.

The labor productivity index increased 1.4 percent annually to 101 in the three months ended in September 30, the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy showed.

However, this marked the eighth quarter that the index has increased on an annual basis. Labor productivity is measured by dividing total industrial output by total labor input, with that of 2010 serving as a baseline of 100, local media reported.

During the July-September period, the country's overall labor input gained 0.4 percent annually despite a 0.7 percent growth in the total number of workers as the average work hours were cut by 0.3 percent, the ministry said.
