Russia concerned over Mideast deadlock


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said here on Monday that his country was concerned by the current deadlock in the Middle East conflict settlement.

During his meeting with visiting Chief Palestinian Negotiator Saeb Erekat, Lavrov said that Moscow is deeply concerned by the deadlock in the peace process between Palestine and Israel, Russia's TASS reported.

He added that Moscow understands and supports the wish of the Palestinian people to establish an independent state and knows of the draft resolution on Palestine recently submitted to the UN Security Council.

Russian Permanent Representative in the UN Vitaly Churkin announced Russia's support to the draft resolution seeking a UN resolution to set a timeframe to end the Israeli Occupation of Palestinian territories.
