Mobile veterinary clinics to cover Oman's remote areas

(MENAFN- Muscat Daily) The Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries' (MoAF) project to provide veterinary care to livestock even in the remotest parts of the country was launched on Monday by H E Dr Fuad bin Jaafar bin Mohammed al Sajwani Minister of Agriculture and Fisheries.

H E Dr Sajwani said that with the increase in number of livestock it was difficult to build a clinic in each region.

'Especially as some livestock owners move from place to another these mobile veterinary clinics will help livestock breeders in taking care of their animals and also prevent transmission of diseases.'

He added that it is a pioneering project under which 13 mobile clinics provided by the government and four donated by the private sector will cover most of the interiors. Of the 17 vehicles 13 are ready for use while four are being equipped.

Two mobile clinics each will be dedicated for the governorates of Dhofar North and South Batinah Al Wusta North and South Sharqiyah and one for Dakhliyah Dhahirah Muscat Buraimi and Musandam.

These clinics will complement the existing 68 fixed veterinary clinics across all governorates in addition to the veterinary hospital in Salalah.
