Kuwait- Min. opens Awqaf Forum, highlights stability of legislative, executive powers

(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) Minister of Justice and Minister of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs Yaqoub Al-Sanea on Sunday said stability of legislative and executive powers led to achieving several development, economic, cultural and intellectual projects.

Minister Al-Sanea made the statement to reporters after opening the 21st Awqaf Forum on behalf of His Highness the Crown Prince Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah who is sponsoring the Islamic gathering.

The two-day Forum is held under the title: "Life of Prophet Mohammad under Awqaf Sponsorship." He said that such stability serves public interests, adding that institutional Awqaf work has recently realized a quantum shift, turning it from a scattered individual and popular activity to a science-base one for contributing to health care, culture, scientific institutions and other services in the Muslim communities.

The Fourm offers evidence that the Kuwait Public Awqaf Foundation (KPAF) is eager to serve the Al-Sira Al-Nabawiyya (Life of Prophet Mohammad) in cooperation with all the official, popular and voluntary sectors in the country, Al-Sanea said.

The Forum adopts a contemporary technical method for tracing Life of Prophet Mohammad through establishing the "Al-Sira Al-Nabawiyya Complex" with the aim of disseminating Al-Sira in the society.

Since inception, KAPF has been focusing on reviving the Awqaf sunnah (way of life of the Prophet) and teaching the society on its importance, as well as managing Awqaf money said Secretary General Abdulmohsen Al-Jarallah Al-Kharafi.

This has been done through preserving Awqaf and developing them through legitimate investment and economic channels, then spending revenues to meet the needs of the society in line with the aspired targets, he added.

Al-Kharafi noted that KAPF has been assuming the responsibility of spreading "Life of Prophet Mohammad" through setting up a specialized complex aiming to culture people on Al-Sira Al-Nabawiyya and the Prophet's teachings and practices.

KAPF's Awqaf Forum has come to be an annual major event that brings together top scientists and Awqaf workers in the world, Imam of the Holy Mosque in Makkah, Council of Senior Scholars Member and former speaker of the Saudi Consultative Assembly and Royal Diwan Advisor Dr. Salih bin Humaid said.

Bin Humaid said he welcomes taking part in all religious and cultural events in Kuwait, a country so keen on promoting Islamic legitimate sciences which stresses the Islamic identity of the Kuwaiti society.

He added that the events and workshops of the 2014 Awqaf Forum aims at formulating the future of the proposed "Al-Sira Al-Nabawiyya Complex." Minister Al-Sanea opened on the sidelines of the 21st Awqaf Forum an exhibition on the Complex which is due to be built in the Meshrf neighborhood.

Awaqf, also spelled wakf, is, under the context of 'sadaqah', an inalienable religious endowment in Islamic sharia, typically donating a building or plot of land or even cash for Muslim religious or charitable purposes.
