Kuwait- GCC environment meetings kick off tomorrow


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) The 18th meeting of the GCC environment ministers meeting and the 34th meeting for their undersecretaries will kick-start here in Kuwait on December 22, Acting Director-General of the Environment Public Authority (EPA) Rajaa Al-Busairi announced Sunday.

The meetings will serve as a platform for consultations and exchange of views about progress in the efforts exerted to preserve the environment and find suitable solutions to environment problems among the GCC countries, she added.

She pointed out that these meetings will discuss an array of issues and follow-up on different environmental projects such as the GCC green initiative and how it could be implemented in cooperation with the UN environmental program.

Some of the topics that the meeting will focus on are: Sultan Qaboos Prize for Environmental Preservation, proposals for a GCC environment e-gate and setting up programs to combat desertification.
