Saudi- 252 pay boost for patrolling policemen
(MENAFN- Arab News) Patrol police in six regions of the Kingdom will receive special allowances worth 25 percent of their salary.
According to an informed source Interior Minister Prince Mohammed bin Naif has already approved the measure that would benefit 13404 security officers.
The royal decision which was issued two days ago would benefit patrol police in Riyadh Asir Jazan Najran Baha and Qassim regions said sabq.org in a report quoting a high-level source adding that the allowance would be distributed following certain rules and conditions.
The decision comes in the wake of several deaths of police officers while confronting terror suspects drug smugglers and other criminals.
Security officers and their families have welcomed the minister's decision.
But some bloggers said the new measure should have covered patrol police in all regions of the Kingdom especially Makkah.
Meanwhile police in the Eastern Province arrested the killers of Raid Al-Mutairi a policeman who was killed in Qatif on Saturday after pursuing them and gathering information about their whereabouts.
Al-Mutairi came under fire from an unknown gunman Saturday night while he was patrolling the streets.
Col. Ziad Al-Ruqaiti spokesman of police in the Eastern Province said Al-Mutairi was attacked while he was in King Abdul Aziz Road in Qatif adding that the officer who was seriously injured died later in hospital.
