(MENAFN- Muscat Daily) Oman Oil Refineries and Petroleum Industries Company (Orpic) will lead Oman's participation in ArabPlast 2015 at the Dubai International Convention & Exhibition Centre from January 10 to 13 2015.
The exhibition is being organised by Al Fajer Information and Services Company and Messe Dusseldorf a German firm. This was recently announced at a press meet addressed by Satish Khanna general manager of Al Fajer and Jeen Joshua group project manager of ArabPlast along with Faisal al Hajri senior polymer marketing expert Orpic and Rahim K Jamal general manager Al Shihab al Thahabi.
Khanna said that Oman has 7.4 per cent of GCC's petrochemical capacity. He said the exhibition will showcase current and future industry developments in the Middle East and the world as 11 per cent of the world's petrochemical demand comes from the GCC region.
Joshua added that Oman's petrochemical sector at 9.5mn tonnes of production in 2013 is the third largest in GCC behind Saudi Arabia and Qatar which have 86.4mn and 16.8mn tonnes of capacity respectively.
Hajri said that Oman's capacity is set to increase by an additional 1.1mn tonnes of polyethylene and polypropylene from Orpic's Liwa Plastics Project.
Khanna added 'As in the past the convention will discuss latest challenges facing the plastics sector in the region.'
Companies participating in ArabPlast will exhibit latest industrial plastic and rubber technologies in the Middle East.
Khanna added that companies from Austria Canada Belgium Denmark France Germany UK Hong Kong Italy Holland Norway Poland Portugal Singapore Spain Switzerland Thailand Turkey the US Taiwan China India Egypt Korea Bangladesh Jordan Saudi Arabia Lebanon Qatar and UAE will also participate in the four-day exhibition and convention.
