Judeh, S. Korean Foreign Minister discuss ties, region


(MENAFN- Jordan News Agency)  Minister of Foreign and Expatriates Affairs Nasser Judeh, and his South Korean counterpart Yun Byung-se, discussed bilateral relations and the latest developments in the Middle East on Saturday.

During their meeting, the two top diplomats agreed to promote cooperation on various issues of common interest.

Further, Judeh highlighted South Korea's role in supporting the efforts exerted by Jordan to bring about peace in the region, pointing to the importance of intensifying international endeavors to resume negotiations between Palestinians and Israelis.

Further, the Foreign Minister discussed the Syrian crisis with Se, as well as efforts made by the UN envoy to Syria, stressing that Jordan's stance is to reach a political solution and end the plight of the Syrian refugees.

Also, Iraq and Libya were on the ministers' agenda, as they discussed the two crises in these Arab countries, stressing that dialogue should prevail in settling events in these countries.

Judeh pointed towards Jordan's keenness to be in the forefront in fighting extremism and all actions which contravened the values of Islam and its message, based on tolerance and accepting others.

Judeh further reviewed the huge burdens on the nation's economy caused by hosting tens of thousands of refugees on Jordan's limited resources, stressing the need from the international community to bear the brunt and support the kingdom.

Se said that Jordan is a center of security and stability in the region, noting that Jordanian-S. Korean ties are advanced in various areas, especially in economic fields, and the aim of his official visit to the kingdom is to build on these strong relations and on what has been achieved.
