Qatar- Katara hosts 42 events on National Day


(MENAFN- The Peninsula) Katara organised 42 events on National Day, in collaboration with about 20 public and private institutions.

These included marine activities, military parades, traditional games, songs and dances, children's games, competitions, exhibitions and traditional tents.

Around 11,000 helium-filled balloons painted with Qatari flags were released. The events were organised across Katara and continued until Friday. Katara launched its FM Radio to highlight the activities.

The events started at 10am and continued until Friday midnight.

Dr Khalid Ibrahim Al Sulaiti, General Manager, Katara, said, "As a cultural institution, we seek to enrich the cultural environment and the arts by hosting events and give platforms to nationals and expatriates to express love for the country and attract more visitors and tourists to Katara.

"We seek to ensure participation of all nationals and expatriates in national joy and reach out to all segments of society. That is why our programmes included historical events, current achievements and future growth of the country."

Parades were conducted by Emiri Guards in the open theatre.

Katara restaurants marked the day by displaying Qatari flags and all employees wore flags while the Public Relations Department distributed gifts and booklets to visitors.
