Qatar- Ashghal stresses need to preserve heritage

(MENAFN- The Peninsula) The Public Works Authority (Ashghal) concluded its National Day celebrations.

The main celebration was held in Ashghal's Heritage Village, with the participation of Nassir bin Ali Al Mawlawi, President, other officials and staff.

Activities included folkloric shows such as Al Muradah and Al Arda Al Qatariyya.

Celebrations aimed to highlight the importance of loyalty to the country and preserving Qatar's heritage and customs by passing them on to future generations.

Heritage Village represented an old Qatari village with its diverse cultural elements and legacies, including customs, traditions, crafts and businesses.

The authority also welcomed visitors - employees, consultants, customers, students and the general public - to its headquarters in West Bay.

Heritage Village included other activities such as a car show where employees and consultants displayed their vehicles and a photography contest on Ashghal's National Day activities.

Inspired by Qatari heritage and culture, Ashghal launched a new initiative - 'Qatarna, Our Past and Present' to create the largest album of images. The authority also organised school visits to its headquarters as part of the 'Ashghal in the eyes of our children'. A large number of students from primary, secondary, and high schools were briefed through presentations and videos on Ashghal's departments, specialisations, core projects, and stages each project goes through from inception to implementation. Students also viewed models of projects and mobile labs.
