UN General Assembly refers DPRK to ICC

(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA))  UN General Assembly adopted a draft resolution on human rights against Democratic People's Republic of Korea, and decided to submit the Special Rapporteur's report on that country to the Security Council.

The recorded vote of 116 to 20, with 53 abstentions against DPRK, the General Assembly then encouraged the Council to refer the situation in that country to the International Criminal Court.

The Assembly also suggested for the Council to take in consideration for effective targeted sanctions against those who appeared to be most responsible for acts that the Commission of Inquiry had said could possibly constitute crimes against humanity.
