US crude oil rises to USD 54.93 pb in Asian trading

(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA))   US crude oil futures for January's delivery rose in Asian trading, 1.52 percent reaching USD 54.93 pb on Friday compared to Thursday's price.

Brent crude oil futures for February's delivery went up 0.88 percent to stand at US 59.79 pb compared to Thursday's rate.

The price difference between US light oil and Brent crude reached around USD 4.86.

Oil prices in Asian markets have been fluctuating amid forecast rise of interest rate in the United States, where the American crude transactions, in early trades on Thursday, rose two percent to a level above USD 55 pb, thus compensation half of the losses incurred in the previous session.

The prices have halved since June, due to various factors such as jitters over declining global demand, supply glut and mounting output of the US shale oil, as well as the recent OPEC decision to maintain the cartel production ceiling.
