Iran's inflation rate to decline to 17 percent

(MENAFN) The governor of the Central Bank of Iran (CBI) showed that the inflation rate will decrease to 17 percent by mid-March 2015, Iran Daily reported.

"One of the major achievements of the government in the past 18 months is the outstanding reduction of inflation rate through establishment of calm and stability in the economic environment," he said.

However, he said that effective and expert measures of the government in the economic field has brought down the inflation rate from 42 percent last year to the present level, local media reported.

He added that the negative economic growth in the past two years turned positive in the first quarter of the current year. This paved the way for controlling inflation and bolstering economic and production activities.
