The UAE seals air transport relations with Vietnam


(MENAFN- Emirates News Agency (WAM))  The United Arab Emirates, represented by the General Civil Aviation Authority, GCAA, has signed an Air Services Agreement, ASA, with the Socialist Republic of Vietnam on 16th December during the UAE-Viet Nam Business Leaders Forum which was held in Jumeirah Emirates Towers, Dubai.

The agreement was signed by Sultan bin Saeed Al Mansoori, Minister of Economy of the UAE and Chairman of GCAA, and Dinh La Thang, Minister of Transport of Vietnam. Witnessing the ceremony was the Deputy Prime Minister of Vietnam. The ceremony was also attended by Saif Al Suwaidi, Director-General of the GCAA and Omar bin Ghaleb, Deputy Director-General of the GCAA.

The Agreement allows complete flexibility on the routes, capacity, number of frequencies and types of aircraft, in any type of service, passenger or cargo.

Al Mansoori stressed the importance of this type of Air Transport Agreements, which will contribute to boosting trade, tourism and investment between the UAE and Vietnam, taking into account that now both Etihad Airways and Emirates Airlines operate direct services between the two countries.

Al Mansoori, said, "The 14 direct flights per week by Emirates Airlines and Etihad connecting Hanoi to both Dubai and Abu Dhabi have contributed significantly to increasing trade and strengthening ties among business communities in the two countries. I foresee several opportunities for the UAE and Vietnam to come together to establish stronger synergy. We look forward to building a mutually beneficial relationship moving forward." Saif Al Suwaidi said, "Air Services Agreements like the one signed with Vietnam will contribute to boosting trade, tourism and investment between the UAE and Vietnam, taking into account that now the designated carriers of the UAE and Vietnam can operate direct services between the two countries." Laila Ali bin Hareb Al Muhairi, Assistant Director General, Strategy and International Affairs, said, "The UAE is always determined to strengthen its international collaboration in air transport and shall continue its far-reaching and sound advances toward opening and liberating skies with countries of the world." The UAE has concluded Air Transport Agreements with over 160 countries, of which 123 are open skies or fully liberal arrangements.
