3rd Arab Housing Conf. kicks off in Jordan


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) The 3rd Arab Housing Conference themed "residential cities with integrated services" started here on Wednesday to discuss several significant issues in the Arab world with the participation of a Kuwaiti delegation.

Speaking at the conference, Sami Halsa, Jordanian Public Works and Housing Minister, said that housing is a pivotal issue that catches the attention of media, all governmental and non-governmental institutions in the society to turn strategies into programs.

He underlined the necessity of future planning and common cooperation to get practical and scientific experiences for a prosperous future of Arab countries and their peoples.

For his part, Gamal Gaballah, Director of the Arab League Office for Environment, Housing and Sustainable Development, said that the conference provides an opportunity to focus on challenges and problematic issues that the housing sector in the Arab countries faces.

Arab Housing Ministers Council decided several years ago to hold the conference every two years as it is a scientific platform that could contribute to handling problems and challenges of housing, he noted.

For his part, Khalaf Al-Mandeel, Deputy Director General of Public Authority for Housing Welfare (PAHW) and the head of Kuwaiti delegation, said that the event is held amid major challenges of the Arab countries.

"The delegation will present Kuwait's housing experiment to participants in the event," he told KUNA in a statement on the sidelines of the conference, noting that all housing projects of Kuwait enjoy integrated services.

The Kuwaiti delegation includes representatives of companies, institutions, societies and academic bodies interested in housing of both public and private sectors to get acquainted with experiments and experiences of Arab countries participating in the event.

The Arab ministers of housing met here on Monday for the 31st session of their ministerial council under the patronage of Jordan's Prime Minister Abdullah Ensour.
