(MENAFN- Muscat Daily) Oman is all set to host two more Indian weddings in January and March after hosting one last month.
Manoj Dass head of Tour Oman a division of Travel Point and organisers of the wedding said 'The first wedding took place at Shangri-La's Barr al Jissah Resort & Spa last month-end. Nearly 600 guests of this family flew in from India Sudan the UK and across the world to attend the three-day function.
'Hosted by a Mumbai-based Marwari family it had all the rituals related to an Indian wedding.'
Also in attendance were Bollywood celebrities like actress Bhagyashree and ghazal and playback singer Talat Aziz. The sangeet ceremony was compered by actor Manish Paul and had performances by the first Indian Idol Abhijeet Sawant music director and singer Pritam Chakraborty and female singers Aditi Singh Sharma and Antara Mitra.
Dass said that the Ministry of Tourism's (MoT) efforts to make the sultanate a wedding destination have seen a good beginning. 'It ensured that everything goes according to plan.'
He said that the ministry had earlier organised familiarisation trips to make Indian tour operators aware of Oman's potential as a wedding destination. 'We showcased these operators several hotels and resorts which have the potential to host wedding celebrations. We have two more confirmed weddings in the coming months. Altogether we may host six weddings by February 2016.'
Dass said that Oman has great tourism potential as it's rich in culture and known for its scenic beauty. 'So this could be a perfect wedding destination for those who are looking for an exotic location. The country is just two-three hours by flight from India. Visas can be issued in just two to three days as this is an initiative of MoT. Oman has a large Indian population and for Indian families it is like a home away from home.'
Dass said that when it comes to Indian weddings all guests are VVIPs. 'We were able to accommodate all their requests and ensure that the service was delivered on time. So they were very delighted and expressed their thanks to MoT and Tour Oman.'
On the condition of anonymity one of the family members said 'We were very happy with the facilities offered at the hotel and service provided by Tour Oman.'
