Dubai eighth costliest city for hotel stay

(MENAFN- The Arabian Post)  Dubai is the world's eighth costliest city to stay in a hotel, with New York occupying the number one slot, according to a new compilation of accommodation index.
The index, compiled by GoEuro.com, covers 150 cities and over 60,000 properties to understand the effect of new trends in accommodation on the hotel industry. The increasing popularity of vacation sharing and continued growth of the hostel industry are now important factors for travellers considering where to spend the night, analysis of the index showed.
New York was ranked the most expensive city overall while Tirana, Albania turned out to be the cheapest. In total, six US cities found a place on the list.
A report said the new sharing economy is increasing the diversity of the accommodation industry, and hotel alternatives are being increasingly embraced by travelers.
In the last 10 years the hospitality industry has evolved significantly, and an increasing number of travelers are now favouring the unique experience and personal charm of staying in shared accommodation over traditional hotels.
