Higher Education to participate in Islamic Conference of Ministers of Higher Education and Scientific Research


(MENAFN- Emirates News Agency (WAM))  The Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research is to participate in the seventh session of the Islamic Conference of Ministers of Higher Education and Scientific Research, represented by a delegation headed by Dr. Saeed al-Hassani, Under-Secretary of the Ministry.

The Conference will be held under the patronage of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, King of Morocco, from 18th -19th of December, 2014, at the headquarters of the Islamic Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation, ISESCO, in Rabat, in collaboration with the Ministry of Higher Education, Scientific Research and Professional Training of the Kingdom of Morocco, and in coordination with the Secretariat-General of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation, OIC.

The conference will discuss the report of the Director-General on ISESCO's efforts in the field of higher education, scientific research, and technology in the period between the sixth and seventh sessions of the conference, a report on the implementation of "Key Performance Indicators for Universities in Islamic Countries" document, the final report on the "Atlas of Islamic World Science and Innovation" project, a draft guiding paper "Towards Building Knowledge Economies in ISESCO Member States", the project of TAFAHUM Programme on exchange of students, faculty and researchers among universities in the Member States, and a proposal for the establishment of collaborative efforts in commercialisation and entrepreneurship education, OIC-CECE.

The conference will also discuss the report of the Secretary-General of the Federation of the Universities of the Islamic World on the implementation of the Federation's activities in the period between the sixth and seventh sessions of the conference.

A round table will also be organised with the theme of "Promoting Key Factors in Higher Education: Governance, Innovation and Employability".

The conference will elect the members of the Consultative Council for the Implementation of the Strategy for Science, Technology and Innovation in Islamic Countries.

The opening session will be presided over by Sumayah Mohamed Abu Kashawa, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research of the Republic of the Sudan, President of the sixth session of the Conference, in the presence of Dr. Abdulaziz Othman Altwaijri, ISESCO Director General, Dr. Lahcen Daoudi, Minister of Higher Education, Scientific Research and Professional Training of the Kingdom of Morocco, and the representative of the OIC General-Secretariat, and with the participation of Ministers of Higher Education and Scientific Research of the OIC Member States.
