Qatar Airways celebrates National Day in the skies

(MENAFN- Gulf Times) Qatar Airways has prepared a schedule of in-flight entertainment rich in Qatari and Arabic content for its passengers to celebrate National Day.

Throughout December, passengers can enjoy a wide selection of documentaries and music from their favourite regional and Qatari national stars as they travel around the world.

"Qatar Airways is very proud of its national culture and heritage, and we celebrate Qatar National Day in many different ways as an airline," said Qatar Airways Group chief executive Akbar al-Baker.

Shows in Arabic include 'Mashari', which gives an insight into ground-breaking Qatari projects such as Hamad International Airport and Qatar National Library. 'Swalif Lawal' focuses on Qatari traditions that have become an essential part of the State's culture, while 'Madakheel Al Afyah' is a cooking show featuring typical Qatari recipes and dishes.

Documentaries in English that will appeal to an even wider audience include 'IM Pei: Learning from Light', which follows the world-renowned architect as he travels the Islamic world from Spain to Cairo, gathering inspiration for the design of Doha's Museum of Islamic Art. 'Camels in the Outback', also in English, charts the travels of Qatari businessman Al Sultan al-Hajiri as he explores the lives of camels in Australia.

A collection of music videos from the Arab world's most famous singers is another highlight of the specially created National Day programme on board Qatar Airways this month. Qatar's own Fahad al-Kubaisi stars alongside other big names such as Mohamed Abdu and Rabeh Saqer.

Passengers wishing to sit back and relax to some of their favourite Arabic music will also find a compilation of hits put together exclusively for Qatar Airways to celebrate National Day, including songs from legends such as Fairuz al-Baher and Qatari singer Essa al-Kubaisi.

As well as the entertainment that has been hand-picked for Qatar National Day, passengers travelling over the holiday period will also find a selection of Hollywood movie premieres, the best of Bollywood, world cinema and children's films, and much more on board their Qatar Airways flights.
